Frosted Lemon Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

Zesty Lemon Glazed Sugar Cookies with a Sour Cream Twist


For the Cookies:

3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons lemon zest
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups all-purpose flour
For the Frosting:

1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
2 cups powdered sugar
1-2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg, sour cream, lemon zest, and lemon juice and mix until combined.
In a separate bowl, combine the salt, baking soda, and flour.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
Cover the dough and chill for at least 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Scoop out tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them on the baking sheet.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
To make the frosting, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Once the cookies have cooled, spread the frosting over the tops.
