Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef
1 yellow onion, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, adjust to taste)
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 cup water
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
8 oz lasagna noodles, uncooked
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 large egg
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Directions:

Set the Instant Pot to the sauté setting. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
Stir in the chopped onion and garlic, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
Add the dried oregano, dried basil, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for an additional minute to release the flavors.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and water. Stir in the granulated sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
Break the lasagna noodles in half and arrange them in a single layer on top of the sauce, pressing them down slightly to submerge them.
In a small bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and the egg, stirring until smooth. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the ricotta layer.
Repeat the layers: add another layer of noodles, followed by the remaining ricotta mixture, and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Close the Instant Pot with the lid and set the pressure valve to the sealing position. Select the manual or pressure cook setting and set the timer to 25 minutes on high pressure.
Once the cooking time is complete, allow for a natural pressure release for 10 minutes, then do a quick release for any remaining pressure.
Carefully open the lid and let the lasagna sit for a few minutes before serving.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
