Strawberry Sauce

Scrumptious Strawberry Compote

Ingredients:

2 cups fresh strawberries
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Directions:

Clean the strawberries and remove the stems.
In a saucepan, combine the strawberries and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Stir in the vanilla extract and lemon juice.
In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water to create a slurry.
Slowly pour the cornstarch slurry into the strawberry mixture, stirring continuously.
Cook for 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
Allow the sauce to cool before using, it will thicken more as it cools.
