Ingredients

For the Hamburger Steaks:

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup minced onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

For the Mushroom Gravy:

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
1/4 cup minced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Directions

For the Hamburger Steaks:

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, minced onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook the hamburger steaks for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside.

For the Mushroom Gravy:

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms, minced onion, and minced garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are tender and browned.
Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat them evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, making sure there are no lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Stir in the heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Continue cooking the gravy for 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
Return the cooked hamburger steaks to the skillet and spoon the mushroom gravy over them. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired, and serve the hamburger steaks with mushroom gravy.
